System Management Services Sdn. Bhd. (SMS) was established in 1997 and is a joint venture between local Malaysian technopreneurs and an established Australian software company called Functional Software.SMS’s purpose is to help organisations lower the total cost of ownership of their heterogeneous ICT infrastructure environments through proper use and management of its ICT infrastructure and resources.
In 2001, SMS was assigned the ASEAN regional distributorship for CommVault QineTix Suite of products by CommVault US. Based inKuala Lumpur, SMS has established CommVault’s presence in Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia via partnership with local distributors/resellers in the respective countries. In 2005, SMS reached another milestone by acquiring software IP (intellectual property) from Functional Software Ltd. The software IP are a collection of system utilities and tool-sets that SMS will further develop, integrate and re-brand to automate, collect and manage information related to ICT infrastructure solutions. In 2006, SMS was appointed Distributor of Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) data management software, HDPS – Hitachi Data Protection Suite. This business partnership allows the companies to combine and leverage on each other respective strength to provide further traction and bring to market Hitachi storage solutions into Malaysia and Brunei.
In 2007, SMS was appointed by Dell Asia Pacific as Dell Services Provider (DSP) and appointed by VMWare as Enterprise Partner for VMWare suite of solutions. Dell and VMWare offer solutions that will help organizations optimize their existing ICT infrastructure through the virtualization of their infrastructure resources such as servers, desktops, storage and networks.
In 2011, NetApp appointed SMS as its Gold Focus Partner, to work together to offer storage systems and software solutions that help data centers optimise and use their storage infrastructure more efficiently.
SMS is registered with Malaysia’s Ministry Of Finance and is the ASIAN arm of a worldwide group of companies with affiliated offices in Australia, UK, and USA.
